In September 2008 I will be heading off to Cambodia to take part in a 9 month volunteer placement for the charity the Cambodian Children’s Fund in Phnom Peng, Cambodia. This charity (CCF) was set up in 2003 with the specific aim of helping the poverty stricken children of Phnom Peng, who are born and raised on the Steung Meanchey rubbish dump.
My job, whilst in Cambodia will be to work with the staff in the centre to help them with their education system, using my 4 years of teaching experience to advise them on curriculum and teaching practices; to help them work their way out of poverty. I will be working free of charge and therefore and now maddly sacing and arranging fundraising events to help me help them.
My plan is to offer my lovely friends and family the opportunity of 'Doing a Day'! Which basically means that you get the opportunity to create my experience for me! For just £10 you can sponsor a day of my trip (or a week, or a fortnight-depending on your cash flow situ!)This will all add up and mean that I will be able to stay in Cambodia longer and really try and give back to the children of Phnom Peng.
Apologies for the cliche but this really is an opportunity for you to make a difference to children’s lives in a country very often forgotten. Please help in any way you can.

Thanking you in advance,

Sarah Bennett
